WAYHOME: festival style

Current state: laying in bed listening to Sam Smith. This weekend was the first ever Wayhome Music Festival in Oro Medonte, Ontario. I fall hard for festivals, so I packed up some foolproof festival outfits and made my way North of Toronto with the squad.

Camping can be fun, don’t get me wrong, but with heat wave temperatures I was happy to be renting a hotel and curling my hair everyday, sorry campers! For day 3, I stuck to the basics – denim cutoffs, slight crop tank and a shady straw hat – all classic pieces from Urban Outfitters.

Hope you enjoyed the weekend as much as I did, wayhomies!

Living in San Francisco isn’t all sunshine and heat waves like the California most Canadians dream of. The average year round temperature is 17-22 degrees Celsius (don’t ask me about Fahrenheit yet), but temperatures plummet in the evening. Being used to hot Ontario summers where short hemlines last through the night, you can typically hear me advertising how cold I am.

Keeping with tradition, I decided to elongate a trip home by stopping by NYC first for a visit with one of my oldest friends. Something about New York in the summer, I cannot get enough of. Though the humidity took my breath away upon arrival, I was happy taking in the hot hot heat, while dewy-faced New Yorkers were completely over it. To further our tradition, it was also mandatory to visit Brooklyn by bike, this time with Charlie in tow!

If I’m a California Gurl, I gotta say, I may be more of the SoCal type. Do you have any summer vacation traditions?

One More Time for Cali

On our first day in Los Angeles, we strolled around Santa Monica — I was happy to finally get back to walking, since California is such a driving state, or at least L.A. seems to be. This was one of the only days I could wear bare legs in the city, and I now understand how Californians can complain about the cold — sometimes it just really is that chilly. While stumbling into Urban Outfitters, I discovered the mannequin and I were essential doppelgangers; it’s always flattering to know that mannequins are stealing your style!
